In the library you can view all of the games I have reviewed. In each review I will explore details like the volume of text in each game, the availability of Japanese audio and additional game features which Japanese learners may find beneficial for studying. Each review also has a glossary of some of the more prevalent words and themes, as well as some posts from our Instagram that show grammar and vocabulary breakdowns
Clash of Clans is fantastic for language learning for a number of reasons. Between the humour, styles of language, volume of text and overall aesthetic you can’t go far wrong.
I think I may be a little too into this but since Peak’s release I’ve played it almost every day. The repeatable charm and usage of language makes it remarkably inviting.
For those of you out there who like old-style, pixel art graphics and the shambling undead, boy do I have a game suggestion for you. It’s nice to see a game like Dead Ahead Warfare tickle that zombie killing itch.
The only downside I did notice while playing this is that very often while reading I’d get back to the gameplay and this “S**t, how many rounds were there again!?”.
In those periods of blue and orange excitement however, Rocket League excels as a fantastic party game (Even if your non-japanese speaking guests have to ask what the menus are saying)
If you are looking for a dark and gripping sci-fi adventure that is sprinkled with horror elements then go right ahead. Stray exceeded my expectations.
The beauty of a good word puzzle however is that it strengthens the mind, it only stands to reason that the same thing in your target language would be just as efficient.
One thing you do get is a lot of contest-based and statistical language. The sentences featured throughout aren’t especially long but there is a lot of text to see at any one time.
Tap Titans is up there as a leading example of how to do the genre justice. From the minimalist yet easily recognisable protagonist to the comical, seasonal weapons and armour
All obstacles of the game are impossible (or at least unlikely) to overcome without first understanding the mechanic or route that allows you to traverse them
